Southampton Turkish restaurant Uni Kebab opens new Burgess Road site

AN AWARD-winning Southampton business has come a long way from a small takeaway – which is how it started 12 years ago.

Family-run eatery Uni Kebab officially unveiled its new restaurant on Friday, at an event that was attended by the Mayor, Cllr Alex Houghton.

He was joined by Cllr Lorna Fielker to cut the ribbon of the new unit at 220 Burgess Road, just a few doors up from the original Uni Kebab.

Head chef Aziz Gezer prepared dishes for the guests.

Posting on social media, the company said: “Uni Kebab sure has come a long way from a 16 seater very smalltake away 12 years ago to now seating over 100 people comfortably in a beautiful warm and cosy dining space with a new exciting menu.

“We took on board what you our customers wanted over the years and now we have finally made it.”

The new restaurant comes just a month after Uni Kebab scooped the ‘Best Value Restaurant’ title at the 2022 British Kebab Awards.

The multi-award-winning Turkish Restaurant offers freshly handmade and traditional foods and has previously won the Customer Satisfaction Award at the same awards, twice.

And it has been well-received by customers.

Sajida Alarakhia commented on the Facebook post: “Congratulations to you all on your success.

“May the almighty bless you with increased property for the future.”

Vicki Ferry added: “Went today with friends, food was amazing like always and the place looks fantastic.”

Mr Gezer has recently shared the secrets to Uni Kebab’s success.

Posting on the restaurant’s website, he said: “Being a family run restaurant means we can really put our heart and soul into everything we do and pay attention to our quality of foods and our relationship with our customers.

“It lets us control exactly what goes into our foods, from choosing our fresh ingredients to butchering our meats daily and marinating in our own recipe sauces.

“Using fresh quality ingredients and not prepacked frozen meats and breads full of preservatives and additives is something I feel passionate about.”
