Who needs a

Stanley cup when you’ve got a Grammy? Certainly not Jay-Z. The music mogul created a viral moment last night at the 2024 Grammy Awards when he was photographed pouring D’USSE Cognac XO into a Grammy award he had just won.

He took the sip shortly after becoming the second recipient of the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. While accepting the award with his daughter Blue by his side, the rapper joked about his past Grammy awards serving as sippy cups for the now 12-year-old Blue.

“I used to say this was a sippy cup for Blue. But Blue’s grown up now, she doesn’t take sippy cups and she has her own Grammys,” Jay-Z said.

Over a decade ago, Jay-Z first poured D’USSE, which he’s part owner of, into a Grammy. He was photographed pouring the amber-colored spirit into his award backstage at the 2013 Grammy Awards.

And in a video uploaded to Beyoncé’s Instagram account in 2021, shortly after she set the record for most Grammy wins by a female artist, a crown-wearing Blue was spotted sipping out of a Grammy using a blue-and-white striped straw.

In addition to using his award like a limited-edition cognac Quencher last night, the rapper also took the time to call out the Grammys for snubbing his wife Beyoncé for Album of the Year during past Grammy ceremonies.

“I don’t want to embarrass this young lady [Beyoncé], but she has more Grammys than everyone, and never won Album of the Year. So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that: the most Grammys, never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work,” he said.
