Everyone is
espresso martini-crazed these days, but you don’t need to drink alcohol to enjoy this decadent trend! Our espresso mocktail packs a punch with an espresso base, creamy top, and tons of Oreo crunch with none of the alcohol. For the caffeine-adverse, this drink is still a go, as it can also be enjoyed with decaf espresso, if desired.
To make this mocktail masterpiece, start with espresso that has been brewed and then chilled in the fridge. Hot espresso will melt the ice and water down the mocktail—we don’t want this! For the best flavor, brew a good-quality espresso. If you don’t have an espresso machine, buy shots at a local coffee shop and chill it at home, or use strong brewed and cooled coffee or cold brew.
Then shake up the chilled espresso with chocolate syrup (a must for mocha!), seltzer, and ice and strain the mixture into two coupe or martini glasses. For body and creaminess, top the espresso base off with spoonfuls of a lightly sweetened whipped cream, made by whisking heavy cream and sugar in a bowl.
For the final flair, you won’t want to skip this step: Add the crunch! Crumble Oreos with your fingers or put them in a plastic zip-top bag, seal the bag, and crush with the back of a glass or rolling pin. Sprinkle the Oreos onto one half of each glass. Then open up an Oreo just enough so you can secure it onto the side of the glass.
