There’s nothing like a fresh-baked controversy to kick off the holiday season. And
Costco has found themselves in the middle of just that. In a video shared on TikTok, Laura of @costcohotfinds revealed that Costco’s Gooey Cinnamon Rolls are back, but with a catch: the new recipe has been tweaked.
“Costco brought back the Gooey Cinnamon Rolls for the holidays. And earlier this year, the bakery changed the recipe and these are phenomenal,” she said.
In addition to the recipe change, commenters pointed out that the cost of the cinnamon rolls had also changed, and by quite a lot. According to one user, the bakery treat that’s now $12.99 was once just $7.99.
“To think…. Last year, they were only $7.99,” they revealed.
With inflation continuing to rear its ugly head in grocery stores across the country, there were plenty of other comments pointing out the steep price increase.
“I still buy them but I don’t understand why they doubled in price,” said one user.
“This year [they are] $12.99 😱 think I’ll make ones from scratch for that price,”another added.
Others aren’t incredibly impressed with whatever Costco did to change the original cinnamon roll recipe.
“Mine weren’t gooey. The new ones are trash 3/10 old ones 10/10,” read one comment.
“They tasted better at 7.99 the new ones don’t taste as good,” another user shared.
Will you still be grabbing a batch of Costco’s Gooey Cinnamon Rolls this winter?
