While the Golden Globes
menu may have featured a luxe spread of Nobu sushi, Paul Giamatti was like, “Nah, I’ll save my appetite for In-N-Out.” The Billions alum celebrated his big win of the night with a post-award show stop at the beloved fast food joint.
“PAUL GIAMATTI keeping it real post his Golden Globes win last night, at the Westwood In-N-Out in L.A.,” fellow actor Michael Warburton tweeted on Monday, alongside a pic of the newly-minted best actor in a comedy or musical.
The photo featured Giamatti still wearing his tuxedo with his actual Golden Globe while chowing down.
Fans were quick to post their reactions. “To be fair a Golden Globe is probably about as good as a double-double,” one user wrote, while another chimed in: “Paul Giamatti is a legend for this pic alone.”
Legend, indeed. Case in point:
“This is Paul Giamatti’s world. We all just live in it,” another person added.
In case you missed it, Paul took home the Golden Globe for best actor in a comedy or musical for his role in The Holdovers. He delivered an adorably on-brand Paul Giamatti-style speech prior to the In-n-Out run, too.
“Surely this is the first time this award has been given to an actor who has played a man who smells like fish,” he joked. Of course, it was equally heartwarming too.
“I want to give a shout-out to my son Samuel, who recently graduated from college. And it’s a movie about a teacher. I play a teacher in it. My whole family, they’re teachers. All of them, going back generations,” he continued. “Teachers are good people. Gotta respect them,” he continued. “They do a good thing. It’s a tough job, so this is for teachers as well. Thanks, guys. Thank you.”
While Giamatti’s late-night burger run is all types of iconic, it certainly isn’t the first time an actor has headed straight for a fast food joint following a win. Just last year, Paul Mescal celebrated his own win with McDonald’s, while Julia Roberts similarly enjoyed an In-n-Out Burger after the 2019 Globes.
