Dune: Part 2 won’t arrive in theaters until March 1, it’s already going viral—because of the film’s over-the-top promotional popcorn buckets that are hitting movie theaters.

As part of the film’s marketing budget, execs created a replica of the giant sandworms from the planet of Arrakis in popcorn bucket form…that doesn’t *just* look like sandworms.

Naturally, fans reacted—and with some NSFW thoughts, at that.

“I just want to eat my popcorn not stick my hand in a monster fleshlight,” one user wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). “This should be considered a marketing war crime,” another chimed in.

“We’re gonna see this on onlyfans and I’m not excited about it,” a third person wrote. So, yep, people really went there.

And while, yes, the internet has a dirty mind, that’s not what the Dune marketing team intended. The concept is completely innocent and inspired by the film’s giant sandworm creatures that play an important role in the planet’s desert ecosystem. Get your head out of the gutter, internet.

No matter what you think about the popcorn bucket, I think we can all agree that the Dune model is going to sell out fast. Film movie theater collectibles have that reputation. Case in point: the Barbie pink corvette bowl is priced at $99.99 on eBay, while the 20-sided Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and light up Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania have similarly been up-marked for fans online, The A.V. Club reports.

The popcorn bucket first gained traction on X after YouTuber Cris Parker shared the find on social media. “I kid you not… these are the #Dune2 popcorn buckets,” he wrote.

“I thought it was a 3D Printed joke at first,” he tweeted, “but I looked deeper into the source and it looks to be real.”

“I just love collecting unique popcorn buckets that get creative with their design in relation to their movie,” Parker told Vulture. “This Dune 2 bucket is more than just creative—it’s hilarious.”
