Alcohol-free cocktails should never be an afterthought! This blood orange and ginger spritzer hits all the right notes: a little sweet, a little sour, and a little spiced. Finished off with a bouquet of fresh garnishes, it’s the perfect winter cocktail to toast with all season long.
To make beautifully thin strips of ginger for the garnish, our tool of choice is the mandoline. Choose a piece of ginger with a pretty, branched-out shape, then lay flat on your mandoline and carefully slice. Don’t have a mandoline? A very sharp knife is fine too, though your slices will be a little bit thicker. And if slicing up fresh ginger feels too fussy, you could sub in some candied ginger on a cocktail pick.
If you’re working with particularly sour blood oranges, the lemon juice may not be necessary. Taste your blood orange juice before preparing the mocktail; if it’s much more sour than regular fresh orange juice, you can opt for just a couple drops of lemon juice, if any.
