Instead of dreaming of a white Christmas this year, we’ll be dreaming of this
Christmas cocktail all season long. In this festive recipe, we give the classic margarita a festive, “snowy” twist that’ll have you ringing in the season all winter long. Complete with a sugar rim and cranberry garnish, these margs are the perfect excuse to enjoy a white Christmas in the comfort of your own home, no winter coat required. 😉
How to make the best Christmas margarita:
We turned this winter cocktail white by adding coconut milk and cream of coconut to our tequila, triple sec, and lime mixture, giving this festive drink a tropical twist we crave in the middle of winter. Our original recipe only included coconut milk, but after retesting, we discovered this cocktail needed a creamy, sweet boost. Enter: cream of coconut. This not only adds a sweeter touch to our margaritas, but also helps with the consistency. When blending, we found 4 cups of ice to be just enough to nail our ideal frozen marg consistency, but feel free to adjust based on preference.Â
Tip: These drinks may separate a bit after blending due to the coconut milk base. If so, give them a quick stir to incorporate it back together.Â
Variations:
— Make it creamier. Feel free to add more cream of coconut to your blender to get your desired consistency.
— Make it sweeter. Add in some simple syrup to up the sweetness factor.
— The alcohol. We don’t recommend replacing the silver tequila for any golden tequila variety—we want these margs to be white as snow! That being said, if you’re not a tequila fan, feel free to swap it out for rum or vodka. It won’t be a margarita, but it will still be a delicious Christmas cocktail.Â
The garnish:
Here’s where you can really get into the Christmas spirit. After creating your sugar rim, feel free to decorate these margs however you please! We added plain cranberries and more lime for a simple, classic look, but feel free to get creative. Add sugared cranberries, sprigs of rosemary, or mint to really take these drinks up a notch.Â
